It’s like traveling back in time, when no one knew how to make websites but tried their best, then put ‘em live anyway. www.rogers.com has to be one of the worst corporate sites I have ever had the misfortune of navigating. It all started when I received their broken-image riddled email.

I had to laugh, knowing how shitty their website is, and now here I am, stupid enough to actually think I could use their online billing system without any glitches. Oh woe is me! The link inside the email is prologued with “to view your bill simply sign on at www.rogers.com“. (Of course, were I not smarter than I look, I would not have realized that there are four other steps you need to perform before actually “viewing” your bill). Finally, I reach my content-rich billing page:

First of all, neither “View Bill” or “Download Bill” were clickable. Okay I admit, I only tried the site in Firefox and Safari, but come on! It’s a button and a link! Okay, not just a link; they attached some javascript with it to send my user information. Real secure. So, I’m completely unable to get my bill breakdown, just the “current balance” – whose button actually works and it’s probably all they care about anyway. What a fucking sham! (By the way- their bill PAYMENT area works flawlessly.)
I decide to wait until I hit work tomorrow to test it in Windows. Just for laughs I click on the Wireless link in the sidebar navigation – thinking I’ll go looking for a ringtone or two:

Brilliant. Well done Rogers.
So, I type in www.rogers.com and take it from the top, finally managing to get to the “Fun With Phones” page. Hoo brother… Here’s the mess that greets me:

Ha ha ha ha… (none of the links or buttons work in this pile of spaghetti either).
This is just the tip of the iceberg folks. I’ve had so many run-ins with this piece of shit – I just gave up. God knows, I’ve given it too much time here and think I’ll just wrap it up by saying I’m completely disappointed that a fairly decent media provider is too lazy or too cheap to hire someone to design and program their website better. Maybe they’re just incompetent. In that case, I’m sorry, Rogers. You can’t help it and I really shouldn’t have made fun of your website. Please forgive me.
I eventually find out they don’t have download connect for any ringtones for Blackberry either. (What a surprise) Just a pile of radio hits for the kiddies’ regular cell phones. At least that’s what their “funky” little Flash intro and it’s tinny little “beats” tell me. I couldn’t get beyond the Big McG splash page.
(Tested on a G5 Power Mac, Dual 2.3 GB with 2.5 GB RAM.)
